Trauma-Sensitive Yoga

The value of yoga for survivors of trauma has been studied at the Trauma Center in Brookline, MA over the past five years, and qualitative feedback, symptom evaluation measures, and measurable physiological changes highlight the benefits of this practice. Building on these programs, the Yoga Program of the Trauma Center at JRI has developed ground-breaking trainings for yoga instructors seeking to build trauma-informed yoga classes. Pure Vida Yoga in supervision by the Trauma Center provides trauma-sensitive yoga classes customized after an assessment with the client representing their particular population.

The main objectives are to help participants feel comfortable in their bodies, to learn self-regulation skills, and to improve their ability to direct attention away from ruminative thought processes.

  • No experience necessary.
  • We strive to make the classes accessible to everybody regardless of physical ability.

Participants will practice:

  • Diaphragmatic breathing
  • Awareness of sensations
  • Easy movements that induce peacefulness

Participants will not have to talk to other participants, making this class more comfortable for those individuals who find it difficult to be in groups.

If you are a therapist and would like more information about what your client can expect, please contact us and we will answer any questions you may have.

Series are 12 weeks long and the cost is $1500.
